The week before this shoot, Solange was heavy on the playlist. "When I Get Home" is one of my favorite albums because it's reminiscent of a lazy Saturday in the bayou; bare feet on top of green grass, echoes of Ella in the distance. Since childhood, I've always known that New Orleans would be my home. I told everyone that I was moving here, years before I actually made the decision. The city is emancipating. It gives you the freedom to dance with trees and the confidence to move with brass bands. It persuades you to stand on a hill and sway with the wind. I honestly don't remember a lot about this day. It was absolutely euphoric. Jimmy Hendrix described it as Purple Haze. I knew we created magic. When I got home... I drank Jack Daniel's and listened to "When I Get Home."
